At Duquesne University, each Living Learning Center is equipped with fire safety equipment. Monthly fire alarm tests are conducted by Facilities Management in each building to ensure that the equipment is functioning properly. Vickroy Hall, Towers, Brottier Hall and St. Martin have functioning sprinkler fire suppression systems. St. Ann and Assumption Halls have fire alarm ssytems equipped wiht heat and smoke detectors that are directly linked to Public Safety, and portable fire extinguishers on each floor.

To educate students about the importance of fire safety, evacuation drills are held in the fall semester. Also, fire safety videos are shown on campus closed circuit TV and students on each floor are asked to volunteer to enroll in the student Fire Marshall Program. Students who volunteer to be the Fire Marshall are trained in fire safety and are responsible for knocking on their neighbors' doors should an alarm sound.

Each resident student is provided with detailed evacuation instructions to be used to exit his or her room in the event of an emergency.
