Dear Resident Student,
I would like to welcome you to the Duquesne University
Living/ Learning Centers.
The Office of Residence Life staff hopes that you
enjoyed a refreshing summer break and will embrace
the challenges of new spiritual, social and intellectual
experiences.
Duquesne University is a multicultural University.
We hope the myriad of personalities and homelands
encourage you to take a pro-active role in our Mission
Statement - "Duquesne serves God by serving
students-through commitment to excellence in liberal
and professional education, through profound concern
for moral and spiritual values, through the maintenance
of an ecumenical atmosphere open to diversity….
" The handbook will help you to become acquainted
with the policies and procedures governing your
residency. These policies and procedures have been
designed to safeguard your safety and well-being
and ensure an environment conducive to study. You
will also find frequently used campus telephone
numbers and descriptions of those particular University
departments. Duquesne University's Living/ Learning
Centers are established to promote community living;
and as with any community, there are many guidelines
and standards we have found to be particularly helpful
toward ensuring the success of our endeavor.
A Resident Director, Graduate Assistant, your Resident
Assistant and Secretary are available in each Living/
Learning Center to help make your stay on campus
comfortable. You will find the staffs of Assumption,
St. Ann's, St. Martins', Towers, and Vickroy Halls
to be dedicated, supportive and highly qualified.
If you are in need of assistance beyond their expertise,
they will aid you in contacting the appropriate
department or resource. It is our hope that we may
assist you along the journey of your goals.
We recognize the contributions that you bring to
the Duquesne family and welcome you to partake of
its diversity and endless opportunities
Sincerely,
Sharon G. Oelschlager, Director
